Hammerhead Pro XLD Snow Sled Specifications

A re-invention of the classic Flexible Flyer sled, the Hammerhead Pro XLD blends the mood and imagination of bygone eras with modern technology, functionality, and styling. The Pro XLD sports an ergonomically designed chassis that feels like an extension of your body, almost as though your torso is gliding directly along the snow (but warmer). The result is Ferrari-class handling and Cadillac-class comfort, even on the most challenging winter surfaces. The precision-engineered aluminum frame, interchangeable polycarbonate skis, and revolutionary suspension fabric seating, meanwhile, are designed to accommodate everything from rugged terrain to novice pilots. You can even use the Pro XLD at ski areas thanks to the precise G-Steering mechanism and ultra-high performance pro carving skis, which let you make minute adjustments on the fly. As a result, you can rip turns at lightning speed, executive cool freestyle moves, and handle any bumps, jumps, and ruts while maintaining total control.

The Pro XLD sled includes a precision-engineered aluminum frame and revolutionary suspension fabric seating.
The Pro XLD's pro carving skis are made of virgin high-density polyethylene, and include a strake design that allows the ski to track well on harder pack but float well when the snow gets deeper. Riders will also love the lightweight, durable Airtastic fabric used in the seat. It's the same technical fabric used in sports car seats and high-end office chairs, with a design that's temperature-resistant down to -40 degrees F. The seat's ergonomic design and patented load-bearing assembly combine to create a built-in suspension system that's comfortable and supportive. Finally, the sled comes with both ski clips and Velcro carrying straps. Made of UV-stabilized, glass-filled impact-modified nylon, the ski clips are designed to lock the rear skis to the frame during hard cornering. The Velcro carrying straps, meanwhile, make it easy to haul the sled uphill.

In addition, the Pro XLD supports several other accessories (sold separately), including headlights and taillights for riding at night, alternate bullet or general skis for the bottom (the sled comes with carving skis), a safety leash, a tow line, a cargo net, and a carrying bag.

About Hammerhead Sleds
Hammerhead Sleds was founded in 2002 with the goal of re-creating the excitement evoked by sledding a century ago, when the Flexible Flyer was first marketed. To attract new sledders and re-connect with old ones, the company took the challenge of bringing an ancient technology up to date using new-age materials, manufacturing techniques, and user experiences. After numerous trashed prototypes, multiple patent applications, and intense industrial design work, Hammerhead unveiled the Hammerhead Pro, the radical new gravity snow sled. At home in both the backyard and the ski slope, the Hammerhead Pro looked and performed nothing like the sleds of the past, with attractive and comfortable ergonomic mesh seating, a lightweight aluminum frame, a hair-trigger control system, and deep powder carving skis. The company's long-range plan is to bring sledding to the forefront of modern winter sports, with such sponsored activities as team riders and events, slope side venues, and sled races. Hammerhead Sleds is a private company based in Vermont.
